Because I'm just that shallow I need to talk this much.
Preliminary Stuff
Disclaimer 1: I don't own the characters or the original scenario -- I'm pretty sure that's on the Tokyo Broadcasting System and probably some other people I'm not aware of. I'm not making any profit from this, blah, blah, blah please don't sue me. The story elements original to the story of course belong to me or whatevs.
Disclaimer 2: I watched the series raw, so my interpretation of a few things might be different (subs can be weird, lolz). Also, my Japanese sucks, lolz.
There were a few times in the series I realized that I'd missed someone's name (most everyone goes by either only their first or last name, with an odd exception here or there). In the prose, I'll consistently go by the name most commonly used in the story (i.e. T-shirt names). But, for reference:
- Wataru AZUMA
- Yuuta TAKENAKA
- Ryousuke TSUKIMORI
- Keiji NIPPORI
- Satoshi TSUCHIYA
- Ryuuichirou KIYAMA
- Taku MIZUSAWA
- Tetsuya HINO
- Atsushi KANEKO
- Reiji AKABANE (baddie yankee guy)
- Mari SATONAKA (Wataru's crush)
- Aoi ASAKURA (girls team manager)
- Akihiko TSURUMI (Yuuta's rival)
- Yutaka KASHIWAGI (boys team advisor)
- Shouko EZAKI (girls team advisor)
- Natsuko AZUMA (Wataru's mom)
- Shigeo TASHIRO (annoying neighbor guy)
A name appearing in the above doesn't guarantee them appearing in the story, though!
There's a lot of theme naming in the show: for instance, seven of the boys are named after the days of the week, and a lot of names are references to birds. Partially out of laziness, I continue a few of these trends, though it's hard to tell since I'm not writing in kanji (lolz).
Chapter 01
I was surprised by the feedback I got from the prologue. I got a lot of responses along the lines of, "I don't know where this is going (but it's interesting)", and I realized that I didn't know, either. I had unintentionally over-emphasized the mystery element of the story. Upon reflection I decided to run with it... which meant some serious rewriting of a lot of the parts I'd already written.
Although the infamous Japanese Saturday classes are (being) phased out, a lot of club activities still take place on Saturday mornings.
Think of Doodle Puffs to be not unlike
