Archie is sick; again.

This is Archie.
He’s my furry little son.
Last December, he fell ill with a particular ailment which only affects young male cats who have been neutered. His body can’t eliminate the high amounts of phosphorus and protein that normal cat food creates in his urine, causing crystals to form and block his urethra. The week before Christmas he was struggling to pee and stopped grooming himself. The ‘cure’ at the time was inserting a catheter and forcefully pushing the crystal back into his bladder, and releasing the pressure. He was also placed on prescription cat food, hopefully to prevent further flareups. Yesterday, he couldn’t pee. We rushed him to the vet and spent the our last $300 flushing his bladder and hopefully garnering us more time. Because it’s happened again, his only option to prevent this from happening again is an incredibly invasive and ‘disfiguring’ surgery which will basically remove his penis freeing up room for the crystals to leave his bladder freely and without pain. The issue is, this surgery costs at least $2000, including hospitalization and medication. Neither I nor his human father have a job right now; we’re both in a vocational program to GET jobs, and as such, have tried every last person we know that were able to spare what they could to scrape up the $300 we spent today, leaving us with no option the next time this happens but to give him up for adoption; unless we can raise the $2000 for the surgery. Here’s the part I’ve been dreading; I’ve never in my life asked for money from anyone outside of my immediate family, but right now I have no choice. Any amount can help, and you will be forever in my gratitude. He is the most loving, sweetest cat you could ever hope to meet; he gives you kisses on the mouth, and hugs you with his whole body. I’ve never met a sweeter, more deserving cat. We’d do anything we could to keep him; adoption would nearly kill us. Please, even if it’s only a few cents, can you spare it for this sweet face?

Thank you for all the donations! He's all done and healing beautifully!
