Today, I was driving home from Cait's house after internship, down a back road in Boxford filled with extremely affluent families. I realized that on my arduous drives home, I play a little game with myself. I'll sit there and pretend that I don't live an hour away, but my parents are happy, my car is paid for, and I'm living in one of these mansions just five minutes away from everyone else. I imagine that I have no difficulty finding $400 to go to UMass, and, if anything, I don't even need scholarships. I can simply pull into the driveway of any of these gorgeous houses and that will be home. My family will be there. Shortly afterwards, I drive off of the street and back into reality, but for five minutes, I'm happy.
