ah, this was so sweet! I have to admit, though, that I was a bit disappointed that you didn't conclude with Teddy diving face first into the cake! ;-D

This one line summed it all up for me:
If Remus had one wish for Teddy’s life it was that he could stay a child as long as possible, safe under his parents’ protection until old enough to face the world himself.

and that is precisely why DH sucked.

What a sweet story, with touches of humor and sadness to balance it out! I like this Remus, still missing lost friends, but paying full attention to the joy he has in his life now.
