Drabble: A Perfect Duet (Sense & Sensibility)

For
mrstater who requested Marianne/Brandon and duet

Marianne Brandon sat at her pianoforte, her fingers caressing the keys, and smiled to herself as she glanced over at her husband engrossed in his book.  Life was certainly very harmonious at Delaford.  It wasn’t the rush of passion that Marianne had often dreamt of in her girlhood but she found that this calm, happy way of life suited her and each passing year brought her new understandings of, and intimacy with, her husband.  They complemented each other well; her gentle teasing brought laughter and lightness to his features whilst his steadiness anchored Marianne’s flights of fancy.  As she began to play, he closed his book, rose and crossed the room to stand next to her, her faithful page turner.  She smiled up at him as she always did and a familiar tune filled their home, one which spoke of love and perfect union.
