So my grandfather made it through his surgery all right. They ended up removing a good chunk of his large intestines as well as a bit of his small intestines. Turned out he had two tumors. One was almost definitely benign, the other almost definitely malignant. They're still waiting for the tests to say for positive. He's got a ... I wanna say catheter? that he'll have for at least 6 months if not for the rest of his life. But at this point the prognosis is good that 'the rest of his life' is still a bit of time. He's only 82, after all.

Edit: Coloscopy, not catheter. Same idea, just for ...uhm... solid waste as opposed to liquid ^^;;
