Wow, such an exciting past week! I'm starstruck! LOL

On Wednesday, I went to a Dresden Dolls concert. Margaret Cho came on stage, told some jokes and introduced the band; I love her, she's so hilarious. Zoe Keating of Rasputina was there to play with them on a few songs. They added her cello talents to Half Jack and oh my gods, it was a beautiful and emotional performance! And if you can possibly imagine the awesomeness of what I'm about to tell you, Amanda, Brian, Zoe and a violin player (can't remember her name; she's a local California talent, nobody well known) did a rock and roll cover of the Beastie Boys Fight For Your Right and it kicked much ass! Seeing Margaret and Zoe was a big surprise; nobody knew they were gonna be there.

Last night, was the the Mindless Self Indulgence and The Birthday Massacre show. I found out a week before the concert that London After Midnight had been added to the show ... fucking awesome news! I was bummed because we only caught the last few songs of LAM's set; they were the first to go on stage. I got to hear them do Sacrifice though and that made me happy, cause I love that song. The line to get in the venue was wrapped around the side of the building, past a few other businesses, pretty far. The Birthday Massacre was great. Their front woman is just adorable and energetic! :) MSI can't even be justified through mere words. You could only hope to experience how great it felt to see them and be a part of the whole thing; it was inspiring and empowering to me, personally. Jimmy was all over the stage, bouncing atop the equipment, in the crowd (was held up by the hands of some fans for an entire song). I was lucky, because even though my friends and I ended up toward the back of the floor area, I found a nitch between the shoulders of these two guys that thankfully weren't tall, so that depending on which side of the stage he was on, all I had to do was shift my body slightly and I could see everything. I couldn't see Kitty much and that bummed me, cause she rocks out on the drums and I wanted to see that more. Lyn Z moved about a bit and ran through the middle of the floor, after the set and even though security wouldn't let anyone near her, it was cool to be that close to her, in the flesh. We got to walk up right in front of Steve on the stage, signing autographs, but they were closing the place and ran everyone out, just as we got up to where he was. When they played Planet of the Apes, that was the moment that really made the night, for me. Every time I hear that song, it further reinforces how much I hate my 9-5 job/dependent living situation/fucking boring, stifled, going to waste lifestyle. It really makes me wanna work harder to change my life's direction. This is my life and I am going to make something more and better of it! It especially hits home to me, because of the lyric "rest of my life in San Bernardino." I hate living here, I've hated this disgusting wasteland and the majority of it's retarded, ghetto inhabitants, since I moved to California (mostly against my will), 9 years ago. I have to get away from here and it's gotta be sooner than later. I'm not one of these people; never have been, never will be. I belong closer to LA or maybe another large, culturally, artistically thriving city, like Portland or Seattle. The small town, small mind way of being is not for me; it's much too limiting!
