Hurricane Ivan!!
Ugh! I have been eating my words for the past three days. I should have never wished for the power to go out. Thursday afternoon the weather got really bad at about 4:00. Everyone thought school was about to close and only a handful of people had shown up for my 1:30 class, so I left school early. I can't believe they didnt cancel school. it was really so dangerous. By the time I tried to leave it was already too late. the wind was blowing so hard people couldn't use their umbrellas. I was completely soaked by the time i made it across campus to my car. What should have been a ten minute drive to my house was an hour and a half drive b/c all the traffic lights were out and trees had fallen across the interstate and across briarcliff. It was caos. When i finally made it home, we didn't have power. the power didn't come back on for three days. we heard on the radio it wasn't safe to go to decatur b/c all the roads were flooded or blocked by trees so Chris and Jonathan stayed here. We had room mate bonding all night by candle light: me, Chris, Shelley, Chloe, and Jonathan. It was a lot of fun being without power, for the first few hours. we read quizes to each other out of magazines and drank some. we tried to go to kroger for a board game at around midnight. they didn't have any games and just as we were leaving, power went out all around us. it was erie. I did miss work b/c of the storm. so that was a big plus. the next day we were able to go to decatur, so we all took showers there. I went out to eat with some friends from work. The power was still out so we went to Jonathan's and Chris's and had another big slumber party with all the roomies. Power wasn't turned back on until about 8 tonight. i was beginning to lose hope. We lost all the food in the fridge. tomorrow i get to replace all my food. it could have been worse though. a lot of people got flooded. some people still don't have power. It was a bittersweet weekend. its a bigger hassle than you think, not having power. but it was really nice to spend that much time with shelley, chloe, jonathan, and chris. i guess that's all for now....
