I went to Pioneer Square today and a boy and girl approached me and told me that they were from such-and-such school. They both had papers in their hands and looked like they were taking a survey, and they didn't speak very much English. And then they asked me, "What does this mean?" And they pointed to the paper which said, "Light on their feet," and a picture under it showed an old man twirling an old lady around on a dance floor.
I found my first whole book on Kenneth Anger today at Elliott Bay. I couldn't buy it, but I learned that the song that accompanies "Rabbit's Moon" ("It Came in the Night") is by a UK band called A Raincoat, which is a very good thing to know, but another good thing to know is that it will not be found on the band's only record. And Anger used it without permission. I don't like copyright law either. But the original version of the film was accompanied by The Temptations and other doo-wop.
I just watched "L'Enfant" which is a movie about a boy who is 20 and a girl who is 18 who have a baby; he thinks "work is for fuckers" and gets money by stealing, selling, ripping off kids and begging. He forgets to visit the girl in the hospital and she finds him when she gets out. He decides to sell the baby, but then ends up regretting his decision because life comes to bite him in the ass. We are supposed to believe that he really loves her. The movie should have been called "L'Idiot".
