Small Dose People

I have this theory. There are people in this world that I refer to as Small Dose People. These are the ones that you can only stand to share the same air with for a very short period of time. There are two types of Small Dose People: the ones we like but can only take just so much of and the dear-God-shoot-me-now kind. There is a girl who works in the Library who makes me want to jump off a cliff after talking with her for 30 seconds and she's convinced that I like it when she hangs out at my desk.

My point in all this is that I have decided that my parents are Small Dose People. They are the kind that are great and fun for a day and then it turns ugly. They came to visit me last, last Sunday (wow, I haven't posted in awhile) and we did the present thing and the eating until it hurts thing and they were very excited about learning how to fold a shirt from Shawn. It was great. Sadly, I made the mistake of thinking that it would continue to be great when Kat and I went to VaBeach to hang out more with them on Thursday.

Ohh, it was bad. It never ceases to amaze me how my mother, who is about as stubborn and controlling as I am, turns into a limp noodle and takes the submissive, perfectly obeying and agreeable role, thus letting my step-dad get away with anything and everything he can think of to make my life miserable. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with a couple trying to come across as one mind and not contradicting each other in public and all that. But give me a break and grow a backbone. When your husband insults your daughter to her face right in front of you or completely ignores her when she asks a friendly question, at least pretend to stand up for her. I guess my step-dad didn't quite get it that I drove 5 hours to spend some quality time with people I don't get to see that often, not to be bossed around like a 2-year old and treated like crap. *pants* Ok, I'm done. I guess I just needed a reminder why I moved 12 hours away from them 5 minutes after I graduated high school.
