Om nom nom lunch. Even if you are only a small can of baked beans and little sausages, a yoghurt and a jam sandwich (oh my but I do love jam sandwiches). Anyway, speaking of food, Lent. This year I am trying a more general approach rather than the usual list of foods which are contraband. I am going to aim to eat more mindfully and simply. Which, when it comes down to it, means eating more vegetables, less sweeties and less meat. I do have a real weakness for sweets so I'm trying to cut them out completely, especially as I find myself craving certain things (creme eggs, mint slice...) almost obsessively. Of course this Lenten fast does not include when other people are cooking, because complaining would be defeating the point of it all.

OK telephones. If you ring while I am on my lunch and I have to answer you then I will take a longer lunch for the time you took! Yes, the telephone system here is pretty awful - next door unit gets our calls, we get theirs...
Driving to work over the moor today was fantastic though. Blue skies and the grass bending and tossing with the wind.

Currently reading Journey to the River Sea. It's good so far, although I find I'm far more aware of hardship in books now than I was as a child. Case in point: The Silver Sword. We did it at school when I was 10 and I remember loving it so very much, buying the book and reading and rereading it for months. Last year I read it again and pretty much cried my way through the book at what the characters (especially Edek) had to go through. Journey to the River Sea isn't that intense, but it's enough to make me uncomfortable.
