OK, to start with, my backspace key is being finicky. TYou are warned.
My life, in brief:
1. Work. Job is going quite well. Far, far superior to banking. I'm leaving tomorrow AM for me "pre-service orientation" in Philadelphia, which, if not interesting, will at least be relaxing. We're staying at the Hilton by the airport. It looks like we only have meetings until about 4:30, so maybe I'll be able to get out into Philly? Maybe? We'll see.
2. Family, current. My grandpa (Mom's dad) has been really sick for the past few weeks. He has bleeding in his brain, which they were going to do surgery and fix, but then he started having other problems with his heart and lungs and things. They finally transferred him to in-patient rehab, but then he started to get worse again . . . MY grandma is staying at my parent's house, along with Jack (her dog) who doesn't get along with Rosie. The house still has no walls upstairs, so everyone is living on the first floor.
3. Family, near future. My folks are going to be coming here for Thanksgiving. Mom has made it clear that no matter what is going on with Grandpa, they are still coming out. We are really looking forward to having them out, even if it means we have to actually clean the house.
4. Family, future future. Baby plans are coming along. Our donor (no sure if he wants to be anonymous here, so being discreet) will be banking in December. (Sperm for Christmas! Yippee!) We'll start inseminating hopefully in July (assuming Chris is done with her quals). From all indicators, I seem quite fertile (although I may want to raise my cholesterol-weird, but true), so hopefully I'll get pregnant quickly. We're still figuring out if/how much I'll work after birth of the progeny. Average cost for daycare for an infant in MA? Over $14,000.00 per year. We'd rather use daycare as little as possible, anyway, especially as I intend to breastfeed. So yeah, I may only go back to work part time and try to have a schedule where Chris can be with babe when I'm working. I'm kind of hoping that Habitat will need a part-time person when my Americorps year is up.
5. Kitty. Is crazy, and cute. Can jump up on the clothes line from the floor. I love her to pieces.
6. Me. Is smaller. By about 40lbs since my January Dr.'s appt. I'm hoping to drop another 10 by New Year's so I can say I lost 50lbs in 2007. Could be tough, what with impending holiday madness, but I'm gonna try. The amount of clothes (esp. pants) that fit is rapidly shrinking as well. I've already stolen Chris's jeans, and they are getting too big (I can pull them off without unbuttoning). It's an annoying problem, but you get no sympathy when your clothes get too big.
