Now answer the questions according to the numbers:
What was the first song you ever heard by 6?
I think it was "Waltz #2 (XO)" - the best first song to hear by Elliott Smith.
What is your favorite album of 2?
The Dandy Warhols? It must be Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia.
What is your favorite lyric that 5 has sung?
"yeah, I got busted / so I used my one phone call to dedicate a song to you on the radio" - that's from "You are the Light" by Jens Lekman.
How many times have you seen 4 live?
I've seen the Smashing Pumpkins live (post-D'arcy) twice.
What is your favorite song by 7?
My favourite Josh Ritter song might be "Snow is Gone", or "Kathleen", or "Come and Find Me", or "Roll On", or a few others.
What is a good memory you have involving the music of 10?
A good memory involving Ben Folds... reading about the Improv Everywhere guys
pulling a stunt where one of them pretended to be Ben Folds in a bar. That doesn't really involve his music, though, so I'll say that seeing him live in general is a good memory.
Is there a song of 3 that makes you sad?
Tom Petty's music almost always makes me happy, but there is a sadness inside some of the songs, like "Southern Accents", which is beautifully personal, and I've always felt that "American Girl" had a very sad story behind it.
What is your favorite lyric that 2 has sung?
I'm not all that well-acquainted with the Dandy Warhols' lyrics, so I don't really have a favourite.
What is your favorite song by 9?
"Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole" by Martha Wainwright is great.
How did you get into 3?
I've been listening to Tom Petty's music since before I can really remember, even if only through the radio. But I started listening to it of my own accord when I pulled out my dad's CDs. He had "Into the Great Wide Open" and "Full Moon Fever" and they were one of the first rock bands I got really into, around age 11.
What was the first song you heard by 1?
"Ten Feet Tall", when I copied some MP3s from a friend's computer, including Ben Lee's album "Breathing Tornados".
What is your favorite song by 4?
The Smashing Pumpkins are the worst possible band to ask me this about. But I always fall back on "Thirty Three". But basically every song I listen to is my favourite while it's playing.
How many time have you seen 9 live?
I've seen Martha once.
What is a good memory you have involving 2?
Singing "Bohemian Like You" at karaoke with a bunch of friends from work is a fun Dandys memory.
Is there a song of 8 that makes you sad?
No, Faker are more just for fun.
What is your favorite album of 5?
"Oh You're So Silent Jens", though Jens Lekman doesn't have very many albums.
What is your favorite lyric that 3 has sung?
"God, it's so painful when something that's so close is still so far out of reach" seems to be the story of my life (that's from "American Girl" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers).
What is your favorite song of 1?
I think my favourite Ben Lee song might be "Desire", especially when he sings it live and acoustic.
What is your favorite song of 10?
My favourite Ben Folds song would either be "The Ascent of Stan" or "Not the Same".
How many times have you seen 8 live?
I've seen Faker live three times, and I've got tickets to see them again, finally at their own show.
What is your favorite album of 1?
Favourite Ben Lee album is "Awake is the New Sleep".
What is a great memory you have considering 9?
Seeing Martha Wainwright live is the only significant "memory" I have of her, but it's a great one - she was amazing. I guess to be more specific, her bass player came out wearing a cork hat to be amusing, and the audience booed him and said his hat was shit. I thought it was rude. But he took it with good humour.
What was the first song you heard by 8?
The first Faker song I ever heard was probably "Bodies", although that's a complete guess, because I saw them live before I ever heard them any other way. But I have seen them open with "Bodies" and it is the first track on their album, and a good opening song.
What is your favorite cover by 4?
I changed the number of this one, cause I couldn't answer it otherwise (it was originally #2), and I love covers. My favourite cover performed by the Pumpkins is probably "Dancing in the Moonlight" by Thin Lizzy or "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac. Also worth noting are "You're All I've Got Tonight" (The Cars) and "Rock On" (David Essex). They've done a ton of cool live covers as well, including "Don't You Want Me" (The Human League).
