Playing Devil's Advocate...

So I just saw some of the stills from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland that's scheduled to come out next spring, and it looks amazing. I really want to go read the original books (no, I've never read them, I was raised in a bubble) because I feel like Burton would probably play it a little closer to the source material than the Disneyfied version (even though it is a Disney prodo).

However, and I'm not really complaining because so far it has worked out pretty well, but would it kill Tim Burton to make a movie without Johnny Depp or Helena Bonham Carter? You guys know how much I love Johnny, but still, I feel like it's becoming a little bit clique-ish. I was pleasantly shocked to see Anne Hathaway in the pictures, because she's so different from the kind of actor that he usually goes with, but that's exactly the thing. His movies becoming a very specific brand. It's like Barbie and how she always comes with the same three friends, she never plays with anyone new. I think it would be interesting to see how other actors fit into Burton's grand scheme, but maybe that will have to wait for a while...

And yeah, I just made an analogy comparing Tim Burton to a Barbie doll. I'm tired. This post had no real point to it...
