What was the first song you ever heard by 6? (Flogging Molly)
The Devil's Dance Floor

What is your favourite album by 2? (AFI)
This is a hard one. I've been listening to These guys since back when they were on The Offspring's label (Nitro). I loved Very Proud of Ya, and All Hallow's EP, but their latest album (December Underground) has been on rotation since I bought it. Their early stuff and late stuff is almost incomparable. I like both "eras" for different reasons. I was angsty in high school and I liked the energy and "punkness" of the early stuff. December Underground is just excellent and the band has grown which has certainly shown in this album. Oh, I had such a crush on Jade Puget.

What is your favourite lyric that 1 has sung? (Corb Lund)
Oh gods... SO many... sorry this has turned into a Corb Lyrics fest

"this is grape juice and cheap vodka, man, this isn't even wine
I'm smokin shredded cardboard, eating sawdust baked with lime
this is not the truth you tell me, but some terrible, evil joke
sounds to me like the counterfeit blues have got you by the throat”

“You see these were not militia men, a-fighting for their homes
Nor fathers, sons nor husbands, sire, but foreigners on loan
Mercenary killers, career soldiers to a man
Lashing out with vengeance one cannot accept or understand”

“the short native grasses don't care that they ashes
and my dreams match their dry shade of brown”

“You can see and be seen with those holes in your jeans
And the prairies won't know what it means”

“So we saddled up the ponies and we loaded up the gin,
Rode underneath the shadow of the Grande Old Chief,
To git some northern Rocky Mountain kinda tax relief”

“There are no roads here
There are no signposts
To guide a man through this dark land
There are no roads here
There is no history
No written law to stay one's hand”

“I'm gonna shine up my boots
I'm gonna go into town
I'm gonna scrape up twenty dollars
But I'll probly just drink it down”

“And there were none to replace nor to help us face the winters cold and bleak
That chilled to the bone the pneumonia prone and froze our bootless feet
Then the typhoid hit with its fevered fits, TB and dysentery
That proved in the end to have killed more men than the vilest enemy”

“With morale in doubt and our pride run out no honour did I see
All I seen were a thousand dreams piled dead in front of me”

How many times have you seen 11 live? (The Rankins)
None, sadly, and I'm from NS so I have no excuses.

What is your favorite song by 7? (Great Big Sea)
hmm, lots to choose from here. I love Captain Kidd, Donkey Riding and Chemical Workers' Song”

What is a good memory you have involving 20? (Glenn Yarbrough)
hahah. He did all the songs from the animated version on the Hobbit and I went YEARS without knowing who wrote them. I knew all the lyrics when I was like 5. In high school my dad was listening to a song by him and I ran into the room shouting “WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO?!?!11”... and subsequently dl'ed all I could find by him. Also, the song City of New Orleans just makes me happy in general

Is there a song by 3 that makes you sad? (Husker Du)
I'd have to say Charted Trips. The whole album (Zen Arcade) as about a guy who leaves home and to find the world a cold and indifferent place. Charter Trips sums it up for me in a strange roundabout sort of way. The echo'y recording and also makes it sound more earnest and lonely.

“Out there on the desert, I see trees on every wall
Nothing's ever solved
Said "The sky's the limit on this chartered trip away,"
Guess I'd better stay away”

What is your favorite lyric that 14 has sung? (Social Distortion, from Untitled)

“I'm heading down a lonely highway
I'm running down a one-way street
I wanna know are you going my way
is there some place quiet where we can meet
and friends they come and friends they go
but you were always by my side”

Simple lyrics, like most of their songs, but honest.

What is your favorite song by 19? (Johnny Cash)
Ring of Fire and Walk The Line because they have been a part of my like since... ever. I also like the songs he performs with JuneCarter: Jackson and It Ain't Me Babe”

How did you first get into 22? (The Guess Who)
My Dad :D

What was the first song you heard by 21? (Three Dog Night)
Hell... that's hard... Probably Joy to The World because I had a cover of it on some kids tape

What is your favorite song by 4? (Dropkick Murphys)
Fields of Athenry, The Dirty Glass and Green Fields of France

What is a good memory you have involving 13? (The Smalls)
hmmm... not much yet, sadly, I just started listening to them... and they played their last show in '99. Dan got me the album though :D

Is there a song by 23 that makes you sad? (Stompin' Tom)
Sometimes all of it because it makes me think about our old house in Nova Scotia, when the fam would come over and listen to music like this. This is especially true of the song Farewell to Nova Scotia. The Plaid Stallions did a cover of it for Robbie Burns Day in Drum...

What is your favorite album of 15? (The Soviettes)
LP III

What is your favorite lyric that 9 has sung? (Marty Robins)

“He stood there a moment and looked all around
Slowly and lifeless he fell to the ground
The stranger's my brother, born an outlaw
He must have forgotton I taught him to draw”

How many times have you seen 5 live? (Ennio Morricone)
Uhh... like never. He was Italian and wrote songs for western movies

What is your favorite album by 12? (The Killers)
Hot Fuss.

What is a good memory you have involving 25? (Stiff Little Fingers)
Umm, nothing is coming to mind really. Most people don't like this stuff so I usually don't share it and they were kind of before my time.

What was the first song you heard by 18? (The Police)
The Police. Don't stand so close to me... I was really young and didn't really know what it was about until much later

What is your favorite song by 17? (The Tossers)
“Shade” and “Leopardstown Races”... Hell, all of the album Agony. Did they ever hit their stride on this one.

What is your favorite album by 24? (Gob)
I”m not really sure. I never really bought any. Dad copied a lot of their music for me when I was in high school though. I liked a lot of their stuff from the early until Foot And Mouth Disease

How many of your top 25 have you seen live?
Sadly, only Dropkick Murphys and The Tossers. Going to see Corby in March though :D

I'm tagging Sarah and Tara because you guys listen to cool music, and Morgan because I actually don't know what you listen to.
