Things have been hectic the past couple of days, in a not-really-hectic-but-feels-it-because-so-many-different-things-have-been-happening kind of way.

First, Mom and Dad flew down to Portland early Sunday morning, and won't be back until Saturday night. This has contributed greatly to the whole hectic feeling because Alien's last day of school was today so I've spent the better part of the week alone at home with a hyperactive dog trying to eat things, a hallucinating, spoiled and whiny now that the spoiler is in Portland, dog-hunting cat, loud chickens who have something the dog is interested though for the life of me I can't figure out what (he keeps scratching on their cage), and a freezer-full of microwaveables, which has contributed greatly to the "AUGH I DON'T WANT TO COOK I SUCK AT COOKING" attitude. Tuesday night involved a brownie mix fail. I have been trying - and failing - to get Alien to eat something for dinner other than corn chips and the aforementioned brownies, which are still edible of a sort. At least I'm eating microwave yakisoba... let us consider this an example as to how much Kat is not self-sufficient. Eh, we'll live.

So on Monday was the job interview over at the Empire. It seemed to go well, considering how much I was stressing out over it... *crosses fingers*. And then the sushi party, which was kind of fun. I'm not a huge fan of sushi, but near the end of every year I sort of click into being 100% myself. We started rolling, and everybody was talking, and I joined in. It was fun. And then as soon as I got home I turned on the TV and watched the last half of the kangaroo episode of Wild Kratts. Man, I can't wait to see the whole thing. The next time it's on though is Sunday at seven... in the morning. Haha, no.

Tuesday I burnt my finger making brownies, among other failures. Also, through a fluke of luck, got to see the kangaroo episode of Be the Creature! (Yeah, that's what the last post was about...) Poor Martin, poor roo. It was eerily perfect, how Martin was injured and then Chris found the dying roo and could be all, "Wild animals don't have doctors like us, they just go along as best they can for as long as they can." And then yesterday I caught the Galapagos episode (forgot today). I kept thinking it was too bad Alien was in school, because he'd be all over that. However, vampire sparrows? Disgusting. Weirdly interesting, but disgusting.

Wednesday the grandparents took me out for celebratory dinner. We were going to go to Zephyr, but they had a special going on where a different kind of wine was served with each dish, and Grandma didn't think that would be appropriate. So then we planned to go to Asiana Garden, but they got here to pick me and Alien up and it's been really nice these past few days so the Hot Bite was suggested and we went there instead. Yum, best milkshakes in town. And they gave me a thirty dollar gift certificate to Hearthside, and I bought an Asterix omnibus and some Foxtrot. Somehow... I don't think that's what they had in mind.

I was also reminded that the Great Aunts are coming to town this summer. While Grandma is frustrating at times, her sisters are mostly worse. Aunt Renie is decent enough in small amounts, but Aunt Marcie is a retired judge who can make you feel lower than dirt with a look. Then she opens her mouth, and you start wanting to apologize for existing. The kind where the most cheerful, sugar-sweet "'Morning!" is completely unacceptable, and nothing short of, "Good morning Aunt Marcie, what beautiful/horrible weather we are having!" will save you from an angry rant. Oh, this will end wonderfully. (Last time, I made the "'Morning!" mistake right off the bat, which put a permanent damper on the rest of the trip. The time before that, I started crying.)

Anyway, tomorrow I'm planning to go to the library to take the final, and then I'll be done for good. Yay. To be honest though, it really feels like I started graduating a long time ago. Sort of slowly leaning on the brakes and coming to a gradual halt. Like this semester I took three classes, one of them distance, and did half of the distance one in panic mode. I could easily, easily have graduated a semester early. So I hate it how people keep asking me how I feel about graduating because I really don't feel anything... yeah, it'll be nice to never have to go there again, but even when class was interesting and I felt like I learned something, I still felt like school itself was a waste of time. So no, it's not the assumed, "Yay I've done it!", more, "Um. Yeah. Okay. We done here now?" And then there are the people that assume that since I'm not excited to graduate, I must want to stay in high school forever. Puh-lease.

So now that I have my own Minecraft account, me and Alien have been spending most of the evenings on a mostly abandoned server he found, sometimes with his friends. It's been the source of much amusement. For a while there, every morning without fail, the first person out would run into a creeper right off the bat and our front door would end up exploding, and so two people would spend the better part of the day repairing it. We now have a three-layer ring of fire and cactus which works, but only half the time. Especially since flaming creepers can still explode. The obsidian is working wonders though. So eventually I put a sign above the fireplace (two actually) which reads: "GRIEPER, n. 1. A griefer armed with explosives. 2. A creeper who is a member of our front door fandom." And then another sign appeared (I've been playing with them) that read, "Welcome to Boatmurdered! Hope you like the griepers!" followed by, "That's a very nice front door you have there... It'd be a shame if something were to happen to it..." Because of a previous griefer attack, everyone's paranoid so we used to be carved into the side of a mountain with very little outside other than the ring of fire and a floating garden. But for some reason someone hacked out a narrow ledge near the top of the cliff face, which Alien decided to turn into ramparts. Which are badass, and I compared our fortress to Helm's Deep. Shortly after that we decided that we needed a better name for our fortress of awesome than Boatmurdered, and so we came up with Helmsmurdered. And then I started building walls, and eventually put up a sign that read, "We have a castle. Your griefing is irrelevant." And it's pretty unlikely that they will be coming back. It's a special server where you can build teleports, and after the first attack everyone moved very far away via a teleport from the original spawn point, and lately it's started saying that the teleport on the other side is broken. We suspect griefers, but whatever happened they can't get to us now without a whole lot of walking.

Anyway, the moral of the story being that we've decided that once we start making videos, our official name will be Helmsmurdered. Because that's the eventual plan. Alien and Dad have been trying to get a private server working, and we need to figure out some video screencap software, preferably for his computer because it's nicer, as well as voice recording. But it will be well worth the effort.

Anyway, so Alien decided that he really wanted a Shaper skin from Geneforge, and made himself one. And I begged, and got an Ellery Queen skin off of him. It's not the best, and I think I'll make some changes eventually, but I love it :D. And then there were the Exploding Room Wars... one of Alien's friends was begging for food, just typing FOOD FOOD FOOD over and over again. So Alien and I jokingly tried to ambush him with the promise of cake XD. It didn't work, and he asked how to farm, followed by HOW HOW HOW. Super annoying. So I gave basic instructions hoping to shut him up, and go back to mining. Later I come to the surface to discover that he's made a general ass of farming on the ground, and completely messed up my floating garden. It took me two full Minecraft days to fix. And then things escalated, I blew up his room, he blew up my room, I killed him... you know, maybe he was the one that messed up the teleport. Hmm.

Last but not least, I solidified myself as a Minecraft badass when, armed only with a pick and a bucket of water, I tunneled through a pool of lava. Oh yeah.

school, life, kratt'd, minecraft
