Summersweet/Independence Day/Dress

I really like working for summersweet-my one day in work this week was today and consisted of loading the van with flowers, driving to Hanover hotel, taking out the old arrangements and putting in the new ones then driving bk to the workshop to unload the van eating baked goods that we got free from the kitchen staff :) The one downside was that the window boxes were looking a little unhappy-the hotel staff must not be watering them enough and since we put so much hard work planting them a few weeks ago its a bit annoying-did some dead-heading and they look happy again...lets just hope the staff i moaned at will make sure whoever is supposed to be watering them does it.

Today is July 4th and while i really shouldn't be enjoying American Independence Day i am quite enjoying it-there was a parade which was funny as they strapped red white and blue crap over kids and made them walk around in the heat-tho it was a little cruel that they did this to some poor dogs too. We are having BBQ and a bonfire tonight and will hopefully see some fireworks. It was amazing to see the patriotism of these people-flags everywhere-everyone wishing people happy 4th July-its nice tho i have the same kind of feeling i had when i went to Satceys for New Year and all the Scottish people were singing anti-English songs and i was very worried i didn't know the words to 'Donald Where's Yer Trousers' hehe

My pink dress and frilly shirt for kitchen feast wear was finished a while ago but i got the completing touches yesterday at this cool place called Gemstar Gemstone-little carved rose quartz roses which i sewed on last night-its sooooo pretty. Going to start my purple dress soon but first im making nick some black satin with (gold patterned edging) arab kit for his birthday-he allowed me to take all of his measurements without an explaination so it may even be a surprise!!

Besides my sewing projects ive been working on shire menus and testing recipies on the family and my new big project is re-reading Harry Potter from start to finish (tho word changes like sneakers, boogers, trash cans, candies and Sorcerer's Stone are a little annoying). I also increased my daily excercise (3mile jog instead of 2, more lengths swimming and 20 extra stomach crunches) and im not missing alcohol in the slightest (first time i drank alcohol since the Ale fest was a couple of frozen margaritas 2days ago and a Mohito yester and im not planning on having any more for the rest of the summer as they made me feel very drunk).

In general summer is still awesome-i love Vermont, i'm getting to spend a ton of time with Nick and am becoming quite good friends with his Mom as we work together, i feel so much healthier and the tan makes me look thinner (as well as the fact that i am now thinner despite eating great food). I'm missing shire stuff and St Andrewsers but this is a great and much-needed break after last year-and i get to come back and not live with assholes but live in a pretty little flat with Nick :D
