hitRECord

So I'm just a little bit in love with Joseph Gordon-Levitt right now (some people may have noticed). BUT WAIT before everyone who dislikes/is indifferent to him scrolls past, this is more about a project of his which has turned into a professional website, called hitrecord.org. I think it's genius, and an amazing way to share talents and create something which shows off the skill of so many on the site.

This is the only vid I could find on YT about it (there's a newer, better one on the site page):

So hitRECord is run by "RegularJoe". Here's his opening statement about the site- it gives a general idea of what it's all about:

RegularJOE here. The old media tends to call me Joseph Gordon-Levitt, that being my name and all. Here in the new media, I hit that round red REC button on a regular basis.

HITRECORD.ORG is a project I started almost five years ago now, and in 2010, we've evolved into a professional open collaborative production company. We create and develop art and media collaboratively here on our site. Even this introductory video is the remixed result of a great many contributions. So rather than just exhibiting and admiring each other's work as individuals, we gather here to collectively work on projects together. Videos, writing, photography, music, anything -- we call them all RECords.

Now and then, when I think something we've made has come out especially well, I approach the traditional entertainment industry to turn our work into money-making productions; and then we share any profits with the contributing artists.

Thanks for coming by. Hope you join us, I'd love to work with you.

When I went on the website for the first time a week or so ago, I couldn't help but be amazed at some of the projects and collaborations going on (If you have time, go watch Morgan M Morganson's Date With Destiny, it's good). I wasn't sure about joining up at first, because seeing all the talent made me kinda nervous. Do I have any skills which would be of any use to any of the projects here? Could I really contribute something worth actually using in a collaboration? But browsing through more, there are so many easy ways to take part. For example, I've taken part in a project called "The Hand Project" in the "I am" collab. All I had to do was write a word to describe me and take a photo, and I'd taken part and helped in some way :D

If you're interested, sign up! It's super easy to do as well. And if I've just confused the hell out of you (I'm never good at explaining things) ask me or tell me anything in the comments :3

Here's my page: http://hitrecord.org/users/katt
(I'm just starting out and learning, so there isn't anything really worth seeing yet. Hopefully there will be in the future? Fingers crossed that I break through in some way.)

Thanks for reading.
