My brain is a very strange thing. It keeps trying to convince me that people I meet online look like their LJ icons or RPG avatars. It doesn't matter if I've seen pictures of what they really look like. I've seen pics of Adon and Tammy and Min, but my brain still tells me "Sting" and "Cordelia" and "Scott & Jean" (or Dani Moonstar, whom she used to have for a while).
Obviously, it can get even weirder than that. I have all the trouble in the world trying to convince my brain that Libby is not blue and furry, and Bren is not a cat.
I just connect images very closely to what's written next to them. Which is why I never seem to understand people who say that when they see a picture of an actor that's not from the movie/show, they can't think of that picture as the character. I mean, I get their point (although I marvel at how they can know which pics are "real"), but my mind looks at the words next to the pic. If the words are an interview, then the pic is of the actor (regardless of where the pic came from), but if the words are a story, then the pic is of the character.
So if there's a pic by an LJ where a person speaks of herself, or by a comment in the General forum in LT (I can to a certain extent tell my brain that the person doesn't look like that if she speaks in character) my brain thinks that's what they look like.
Which is obviously why I'm currently trying to convince y'all that I'm really blonde and beautiful. :-)
