Gunn/Xavier!?
I take every quiz and survey that shows up in people's LJs. Normally, I don't put the quizzes up in my journal, because I doubt people are all that interested in finding out that I'm Thoth/Leonard of Quirm/a Ravenclaw. But yesterday I took a quiz on odd slash pairings, and ended up with Gunn/Xavier. Which is so odd it's actually interesting.
No, I don't think it's possible to write those two as actual lovers, and I wouldn't even want to try. But just putting the two of them in the same room would be highly interesting. Because, apart from the fact that they could both join the "bald guys called Charles" club, they don't match at all.
Gunn is young, sharp and streetsmart. He leads his lost boys with an authority based on the fact that he's always the first to face battle. When he joins the A.I. team he accepts a lower rank, but he respects authority only if it makes sense to him. His attitude to the creatures he's fighting is cynical, and it takes a while for him to actually accept the grey areas. His strong sides are his physical courage, his inventiveness with weapons and his ability to see through BS.
Xavier, on the other hand, is old, thoughtful and a bit on the cautious side. He leads his team with an authority based on age, intellect and superior powers. He's for natural reasons not likely to join battle, leaving that to Scott. His position is so natural to him I doubt he even sees it as a hierarchy. He has a great respect for the life of others and may err on the side of naivety once in a while.
I can't see any way that those two wouldn't drive each other crazy if they met - and that naturally makes it all very fascinating. But slashing? My mind implodes at the thought.
