Doctor Who is back, and I feel that I should say something about it, even though I haven't yet spoken about my views on Twin Peaks, or the past three eps of Once Upon a Time (I have a huge half-finished post on my hard drive), or the first four eps of Haven (let me just say "OH HI JESSE YOU GREW UP FINE").
Really, my thoughts on DW can best be summed up as "Well, that was nice," but I'll try to say at least a little bit more than that.
I really enjoyed seeing the Doctor and Clara again. If "again" is the right word for Clara, since she's a new person every time we see her, at least in terms of circumstance. In terms of characterisation, she remains much the same, though she got slightly less to do in this episode. At least she was the one to figure out where the villains could be found (with some help from her upgraded knowledge), well done Clara! And I love that she refuses to be too impressed with the Doctor. They have a nice chemistry, and while I don't yet love her as much as I loved Amy right away, I acknowledge that this might just be because she hasn't chained him to a radiator yet.
The plot was... there. It wasn't terribly exciting, but adequate enough, and it's fun to have a new big bad in the running. I did check my WiFi afterwards and was a little disappointed not to see any weird symbols there. :-) Not that I would have clicked them if they were there; I don't even use WiFi. Although now I kind of wish that I did, just so I could change my password to rycbar123 and give access to all Whovians in my vicinity. Obviously I could do that in other places too (like this journal), but that could lead to bad things, so I won't.
