People don't really have a relationship with great writing or great production or great art direction or great direction. They just sort of admire it. What people fall in love with, oddly enough, is other people. The difference between a beautifully made failure and a beautifully made hit is who you've got playing the leads."

Possibly this shouldn't be true, but as far as I'm concerned, it is - though I'd like to move the attention away from the leads and point out that who you've got playing the side characters matters a great deal too (sometimes more).

Also, I always like a good rationalization for why I'm emotionally attached to that stupid piece of crap that is Overboard. *g*
