What people fall in love with, oddly enough, is other people. The difference between a beautifully made failure and a beautifully made hit is who you've got playing the leads."
Possibly this shouldn't be true, but as far as I'm concerned, it is - though I'd like to move the attention away from the leads and point out that who you've got playing the side characters matters a great deal too (sometimes more).
Also, I always like a good rationalization for why I'm emotionally attached to that stupid piece of crap that is Overboard. *g*
