I don't think I'll buy root beer again

I did some food shopping today, and the shop has a shelf with American sweets, among them soft drinks. I tried Mountain Dew a while ago and quite liked it (though I don't see the basic difference from more common drinks like Sprite and 7-up). Today I decided to try root beer.

Um.

I know I've tasted something like this before, but I can't recall what it is. (Googling suggests toothpaste, but IDK, most toothpastes I've tasted have been minty.) What I can tell is that I'm not nuts about it. It's sugary, so I might end up drinking the whole can, but OTOH I have some grapes handy, so then again I might not.

If only I could figure out what that flavour reminds me of.
