Yuletide reveal: Reasonable Doubts

It should surprise no one who knows about my computer troubles (which, btw, had to reinstall Windows today, very weird when I paid people to reinstall Windows not two weeks ago) that I've written only one Yuletide fic this time around. I'm kind of pleased I did that.

Friendship is a Word
Fandom: Reasonable Doubts
Length: 1854 words
Summary: As reluctant as Dicky is to admit it, sometimes Tess knows best.

It was neither highly popular nor completely neglected, and considering how forgotten this show seems to be, I'm pretty pleased with the reception.

However. This show should not be forgotten. I know there are Mark Harmon fans out there. There had better be Marlee Matlin fans out there, because she's awesome. So how can you not want to see a show in which Marlee Matlin is assistant DA and Mark Harmon is a cop assigned to investigate for her since he knows sign (and since he's made a bunch of enemies in the police department)?

That sentence kind of got away with me. Anyway. The premise is great. The character dynamics are great. (And the show's created by the original Robert Singer, which makes me notice all the class issues more than I might have otherwise.) And even though it was written twenty years ago, it's pretty good on the gender issues too.

Admittedly, I watched most of it back when it first aired and only about half a dozen eps now, but it's definitely worth checking out, and it happens to be up on YouTube.

Here, I'll get you started with the pilot:

As for the story written for me, it turns out to be written by angledust. Is that one of you? I was so sure one of you had taken mercy on me. I feel a little bit better about asking for such an obscure fandom now. And the story was lovely. Thanks again, whoever you are!

(I'll spare you the ramble about how you all need to watch The Loved Ones, because I did that so many times back when I saw it.)

I've read stories in the Yuletide archive from Z to F now, meaning I only have five letters to go - and those 16 fandoms I've written down to read later. Yeah. For those who are interested in what I've liked best so far, here are my archive recs. More to come, I'm sure.
