Day 18 - Favorite title sequence

I'm not entirely sure what the difference is between title sequence, opening credits and intro, so I decided to go with a mixture of all of them. This collected so many runner-ups that I decided to make it a top ten list. Mostly consisting of shows I watched as a kid. I think the reason for this is threefold: 1) nostalgia, 2) animated intros are awesome, and 3) most shows nowadays are completely boring in this respect, just showing the title card and nothing else.

Starting with the "winner":

1. Poirot

I mean, just look at it! The music, the aesthetics, David Suchet being Poirot to an extent that no one has ever been Poirot before... it just sets the mood perfectly. (ETA: I wanted to make it my ringtone, but my phone is completely uncooperative and won't let me dl. Meh.)

2. The Simpsons
A classic that may have made it to the #1 spot if it hadn't been so obvious... plus, after all these years I'm kind of weary at it. But it did keep the interest up for an awfully long time.

3. Psych
Great song, great choice of clips, all in all showing exactly how greatly silly this show can get. (I love that last clip!) Also, it's even better in Hindi.

4. The Chronicles of Narnia
The BBC Narnia series was pretty hokey in some ways, but I love the intro. Gets you straight into the fairytale. As a kid, I used to imagine a complete remake of the Narnia series, but with the same intro. As an adult, I went with that concept. :-)

5. Sagostunden
For those of you who aren't Swedish, this is the intro to a storytime show for kids. (And yes, that's Astrid Lindgren reading at the end.) The animation is by Per Åhlin, who may be the best animator in the whole country.

6. Fem myror är fler än fyra elefanter
Another Swedish children's classic, and yeah, it's probably the nostalgia speaking here, but it's just so very classic! :-) For my international readers, Fem myror... is an edutainment show similar to, say, The Electric Company.

7. Fraggle Rock
I had to put a Jim Henson show in here somewhere, and it ended up being Fraggle Rock, because the song is so catchy and there's so much action in the intro.

8. Raggy Dolls
Mostly included for the charming song. I've made an X-men vid to that song, though I never did get around to putting it up and it's only been through one round of betaing. Hmm, maybe I should brush it up and put it up soon...

9. Magister Flykt
A bit overlong, but still fun, with great animation and music.

10. L.A. Law
Okay, so it's basically here for the iconic license plate and music, but it's so very iconic that I had to include it. Plus, I miss this show. I want DVDs. *pouts*
