A member at holmeswatson09 links to an essay claiming that Watson was a woman.
My reaction, piece by piece, was this:
Hee!
If Watson were a woman... if Watson were a woman it'd be like Moonlighting, with Watson as Maddie and Holmes as David.
And the film would be season 3, and Mary would be Mark Harmon.
Somebody needs to bring the It's a Wonderful Life pastiche where Watson realizes how much better his life is with Holmes in it.
...Or the Shakespeare pastiche.
