I know it's really hypocritical considering the theme of my latest vid, but this Barack Obama endorsement video is way too Tinkerbell Jesus for my comfort. Especially with the chanting in the background. I like Obama just fine, but seeing any politician treated like the Second Coming gives me the creeps.

Truth be told, I get a little bit iffy with religion that's like that too, but at least religion's supposed to be largely about emotions. I don't want feel-good politics.

You wouldn't catch any Australians acting like that, either. Of course, neither of our countries have had Bush in charge. I can understand that they might be feeling some level of euphoria at the prospect of getting someone vaguely sane in charge.

The fact that Bush managed to get re-elected makes me very sad. So yeah, I can get the hope and happiness, but it would be nice if it was more issue-based and less My Own Personal Jesus.

I feel like I finally understand Neil Gaiman's story about Prez Rickards and what he meant by getting the idea from the expectations on presidential candidates in the US.
