Harry Potter fic rec
I don't remember who recced this - thank you, whoever you are! - but I have to spread the love. googlebrat has a most lovely Harry Potter shortfic series that shows afterlife for different characters. It starts with End of the Line, with the summary "Hell was, Snape decided, a crowded railway platform." and so far there are four more. The series becomes even more interesting and touching as it proceeds, answering questions like, "What happens if you loved different people at different points in your life?" and "What happens if you did very evil things?" It made me cry for characters I never in a million years thought I would cry for.
It should also be noted that the series features DEATH, as in Pratchett's loveable skeleton, which should give you a hint that it's funny as well as touching.
