Readers of sports comics

I'm going insane here - I started talking to jadelennox about which comics I read and didn't read as a child, and remembered the old Buster sports comics. While I've never been into sports, sport comics were an important part of forming what I suppose one might call my inner fic universe as a kid - many were the sports hero that married a Mary Sue character of my creation.

Googling for the characters, I found many of my old favourites. Gordon Stewart and his son Rick (uncle/cousin of a whole bunch of my imaginary people) still had their own names, starring in what turned out to be called "The Safest Hands in Soccer" and "Goalkeeper." Tommy Barnes (boyfriend of at least two of my people) of "Tommy's Troubles" also had his own name, as did "The Kid from Argentina" AKA Jorge Porbillas, and Kid Cox.

Johnny Puma turned out to be called Johnny Cougar and Super-Mac was really Hot-Shot Hamish. Whaddyaknow. *grin*

Some of the comics were Swedish originals, most noticeably Max Lundgren's "IFK Trumslagaren" and "Åshöjdens BK."

Two very important people are missing. One is the homeless golfer Danny Boyd (one-time husband of one of my people and father of two more), and the other is the motorcyclist Barry King (one-time boyfriend of one of my people, father of another), who was racing in secret to save money for his brother's surgery. (Said brother also a husband and father in my childhood fic universe, yes.) The latter comic was also my favourite, probably because of the angst-factor.

They may be called something completely different in English. Therefore, my plea for help is twofold. English-speaking readers - especially UK since I suspect these are UK comics - are asked if they recognize the description of the characters. Swedish-speaking readers are asked if they have any idea either who made these comics (searching for creators would be so much easier) or what they were originally called.
