Serenity/Young Riders character list
I'm willing to bet other people who have seen Serenity don't start watching old Young Riders episodes just to listen to that Western twang. And even if they do, they probably don't ask themselves what characters in each universe resemble each other.
Well, I can't help myself, and so I have. This is the list as close as I can make it:
Mal is part Jimmy, part Teaspoon, and part Cody.
Zoe is mostly Buck and slightly Noah.
Wash is Cody with a bit of Ike blended in.
Jayne is Jimmy amped up.
Simon is the Kid, but snarkier.
River has no immediate counterpart, though there are traces of both Jesse, Ike and Lou in her.
Kaylee is almost entirely Lou, but happier.
Inara is a Rachel/Emma mix.
Book is Teaspoon.
Saffron is some Sarah, and some Amanda.
