I figure by now everyone who wanted to take the quiz on my fannish behaviour has taken in. Just in case that isn't true, the rest of the post is under cut tags (it's hard not to cheat when the answers are right in front of one's eyes).
The first question was clearly the hardest one, only two people got it right. Of my fannish shows, Press Gang is my definite favourite. I don't speak of it very often, but that's because I know very few of you will care when I do. (It's hard to wax lyrically when people don't even go "huh".) I've tried to introduce people to it and it usually fails - my guess is that the show looks too dated (set in 1990 and thereabouts as it is) and that it doesn't have enough vampires, space ships or mutants in it. But for me, Steven Moffat will always be a truer god than the Joss idol, or even the Bryan idol.
Doesn't mean I don't love the other shows, mind.
Result: 2/10.
The second question - yeah. Okay. I admit it. I wrote Quest for Camelot fanfic. Two of them, actually. I never said it was a good cartoon movie. And more than half of you guessed this, which means I'm either very predictable or you've been to my site, because God knows I don't talk about this much. ;-)
Result: 6/10.
3 got mostly correct answers - I don't hate Drusilla, I quite like her - but some people guessed Lonnie or Doug. I guess I shouldn't have taken the hate page off my website. *g* Btw, I've liked George Clooney in pretty much everything else I've seen him do. It's just Doug that gets on my nerves. (Generally speaking, I rarely like the guys set up to be heart-throbs.)
Result: 6/10.
4 was clearly the easiest one. Almost everyone knew that my favourite fantasy author is Diana Wynne Jones. I like the others as well (especially Gaiman), but Diana is dearest to my heart. I guess I've said that a lot, huh?
Result: 9/10.
5 was a bit tricky, I admit, since I've paired Wes with both Gunn, Doyle and Faith. Six of you got this right: though the Birthdayverse has lasted so long now that I've probably written more Wes/Gunn than Wes/Doyle, the latter is my favourite Wes pairing. I love writing it, love their dynamics together, and I also read all the stories I can find with that pairing. Sidekick Pride was a totally egotistical project for me, and I suspect for
roseveare: we wanted to collect the stories somewhere we could find them.
Result: 6/10.
6 half of you got right, and I find it very telling when it comes to who has been reading some or none of my fics and who has been reading a lot of them. :-) Most of you who got it wrong had written "death", which isn't exactly wrong since a lot of my stories are adventures and there's always some random villain getting killed. But I haven't written a lot of actual deathfics. I do, however, have heaps of stories where at least one of the main characters has a disability - and that's heaps even without the Birthdayverse (which I never know if I should count as one story or twelve).
Result: 5/10.
Most of you got 7 right, which I think is largely because I have Sunset Boulevard icons and use them every time I post a new Birthdayverse story, but also because I've occasionally whined about how I don't have the skill to vid, because if I did, I'd totally make that video. (Seriously. Watch Birthday. Listen to the song. Then tell me they don't match.) To make things a bit harder, I think the other songs are pretty good ideas too - well, possibly except for JJ Fredricks to I Will Survive, because I was running out of ideas there and didn't really have time to think it through. But it might work. :-)
Result: 7/10.
8 was also apparently an easy one. I guess I've squeed enough over Billy, David and Miranda for you to figure out that Orlando is the guy who's not for me. It's really the same reason as for me not liking Doug Ross: there's something terribly unattractive with being shoved a guy down one's throat as "OMG HOT!" Especially when I find him neither interesting looking nor charismatic.
Result: 7/10.
9 was hard, evidently. Most of you guessed that I'm equally fond of Buffy, Angel and Firefly. This is not so. I liked Firefly, but I thought it was very overrated. I do enjoy most of Buffy (though season 5 was a drag). But Angel is the only one of the shows I really adore, even though season 4 and what I've seen of season 5 had some low points.
Result: 4/10.
The final question was also a hard one. Nearly all of you who got it wrong guessed that Doyle's death shocked me the most. Sorry, but it's not so. I was totally spoiled for Angel and knew what was coming before I even started watching, so while I was upset that Doyle died, I knew what I was getting into.
When Ike died I was 13 years old and not even remotely prepared. I had taped the episode since the TV guide said it was an Ike ep (those were pretty rare), and even when he got shot I figured it'd all be okay - those guys got shot all the time. But it wasn't okay. He died. And I was too shocked to even cry, but my hands shook so I could hardly brush my teeth.
That's the kind of experience that makes a spoiler whore. :-)
Result: 4/10.
None of you answered all the questions right, but
roseveare got nine of them, which means she's officially the queen of my fannish life.
rhiannonjk and
axa with their seven points each can be her ladies in waiting. :-)
