Sponsoring Kerry the only way I can
Not being an American, I can't vote That Bastard out of office, but what I can do, I will do. And so I've joined fan_the_vote. The purpose of the community is simple: people offer to do fannish things in return for other people giving money to Kerry's campaign.
Not being an American, I can't give money to an American campaign, but I'm completely comfortable writing fic for it. So here are the things I've offered to do so far:
Stories: $5/1000 words. That means a 100-word drabble is 50 cents, 200 words is a dollar, and so on. I'm available in many fandoms - so far I've written in Angel, Buffy, X-men (movie), Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Young Riders, Press Gang, SeaQuest, West Wing, Star Trek: the Next Generation, Zorro, Quest for Camelot, Evita, Discworld, The Magic Flute, Most Beloved Sister, Chicago, Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves and South Park, but I am in no way limited to those fandoms. If you have a wild dream of a fanfic, make the suggestion and I'll try to oblige if the fandom is at all familiar to me. All ratings available.
Poetry/filk: §1/20 lines. Rhymes are included in the price, but sonnets, limericks and other specific forms of poetry cost twice as much.
Beta reading: §1/100 words.
Essays: $1/100 words.
Translation to and from Swedish: $1/100 words for a story, minimum of 10 cents. (One translated word will cost you as much as ten.)
Bible knowledge: 50 cents/question.
