My mother's the cutest. Friday night I was over at my parents' place, and she asked if there was anything on TV. I said, "Not really. There's a film I'd like to see, but it's probably not up your alley." See, the film that was airing was Peter Jackson's "The Frighteners", and I know my mom's opinion on anything that's violent or spooky ( Read more... )

The first movie I saw of Jackson was Heavenly Creatures, some three years before FOTR came out. I didn`t even know who the guy was back then, but Heavenly Creatures was one of the most memorable films I saw. Saw it several times, there was something that really drew me to it and now I think I know what it was.
Anne of Green Gables on LSD.
There. You said it. I *loved* Anne, she was sort of my role model as a child, so my fascination with HE is (sort of) explained.

I think the reason I loved HE so much was because I used to be so much of an Anne, and I recognized that part of me in the film in a very very warped way.

I keep indentifying with weird people. Am miserable on the Stand mailing list I'm on because I'm the only one who feels any kinship to Harold. :-)

can you refer me to that mailing list? I couldn't find one when I was thoroughly obsessed - but I've come to the conclusion that I have lousy online searching skills.

that would mean defending Harold? well... I can... I mean, I completely understand where he is coming from. so likely, yes, I'll be on your side. If I'm not, I will only be arguing to make you look better!

Not so much defending - I'm not unaware that the guy is a villain. I was just amazed that I seemed to be the only one on the entire list who had read the books and found Harold to be the character I was most like in the entire story, and because of that, the character I found most interesting.
