For *fuck's* sake, I wrote a poem for those people at
kkk_membership, why won't they take me off?
*sigh*
More pleasant topic: The FotR and TTT DVDs really have an obscene amount of extras. I'll be watching until Easter. I've had them for nearly a week and haven't even gotten through the writers' commentary yet. And I haven't as much as peeked at the extra DVDs. It's all very nice.
Also interesting that in the media and in fandom it's all been Peter Jackson's movie, but when you listen to them talking you find how much influence the women have had on the film. Which just proves that auteurism is a silly idea, but damn it, I shouldn't fall into that trap all the time! I know script writers are important, I see movies because of some of them for crying out loud! *sigh* Perpetuating unwanted behaviour seems inevitable.
Another thing: even with the extended scenes I don't see the F/B. I can sort of see why others would see it, but squicks aside it strikes me as unnecessary - the relationship is already so deep and passionate and complicated that I don't see the concept of incest adding anything to it. (Except the sex, of course, but... well, you know me. It's not ultimately about the sex for me, unless possibly if Queen Latifah is involved.)
What I really hate is that there's no way I can phrase this without sounding like one of those contemptible "slash cheapens their relationship" people. Well, except going "eww", and then I'd be a "eww" person and that's not really better.
