Yuletide and other rambles

Now that the Yuletide challenge is over, I can reveal that my story was An Afterlife Afternoon in South Park. Kenny/Cartman slash with Stan/Kyle implied. As I said before, I fear I may go to hell for this one. But I'm strangely proud of myself for writing it.

I saw part of Sound of Music yesterday, and for the first time ever, I felt sorry for the Baroness. I cried when the Captain broke up with her. I know, I know, they never would have been happy together, but she was so witty and catty and in every way preferable to that homespun country girl Maria. (I like Julie Andrews a lot better now in her old age.) I'm clearly a very wicked girl.

Yesterday I asked for permission to use some pics from the David Wenham site I showed you earlier, in order to make an LJ icon. I couldn't wait, though, so I've made the icon already. And now I can't upload it until I have an answer - presuming the answer is even "yes".

And while I'm waiting, I'm also harassing myself by not letting me upload the Miranda icon either, because I want all the icons to be uploaded at once. And the Miranda icon I want to have as my new default (am tired of the gerbil one already). *sigh* I'm such an idiot.

Maybe I should make more LotR ones just to spend the time. And think about why everybody else's icons look glossier than mine.

They say that the church is one of the worst working places, because everyone wants to pretend that there are no conflicts. Sometimes fandom feels very much the same. It's like we're all a big happy family who have to get along, and if we don't get along it's because somebody is downright evil and must be avoided.

Is there anything dumber than "I won't have you on my friends list because you have them on yours"?

Read in the newspapers today that the CGI people of LotR were requested to make the soldiers act realistically, so they programmed the computers with all kinds of military strategies. And when they turned the program on, the soldiers deserted en masse. Took them two years to dumb the computers enough for the soldiers to stay and face the mumakil.

The same newspaper (though on another page) claimed that Sean Bean and Rolf Lassgård are alike. And damn it, they really are. I've never thought of that before.

Speaking of LotR, I am puzzled by the people (tinhats, aye?) who use public displays of affection between the Fellowship members to prove that Dominic Monaghan and Elijah Wood are dating, and then when the two claim that they're not dating, the explanation chosen is that they're "closeted". If I were closeted, I wouldn't kiss memebers of my own sex in front of cameras. It rather spoils the purpose.

Of course, I am of the conviction that whatever these actors are when they're not with each other, they're all fellowshipsexuals and that should be made an option in every online quiz.

Got the "payment" for December's dressup as a tail-less cat. Two gift tokens for Gleerups book store. I can shop for 500 SEK and not feel the least bit ashamed that I'm wasting money on unnecessary things like books.

Right now, I wish I knew how to spell ZOW-WEE!
