*cough* Anyway.
I'm giving strong consideration to participating in JulNoWriMo this year. For the uninitiated, that's July Novel Writing Month, and is a summertime variation of the popular National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in November. It's in the summer - specifically July - for two reasons:
- July has 31 days as opposed to 30.
- There are fewer pesky super-major-omg holidays in July than in November.
Because really, I have no goddamn time in November to write and admire everyone who pulls it off (especially my dearest
apollymi, whose done it every year since I think 2008).
But yeah, I'm gonna give writing an original novella a shot during the month of July. My aim is about 50,000 words and I'm hoping to play with the urban fantasy genre some. All I feel comfortable saying about the story now is the following:
- The pivotal point that the story relies on is a night club.
- The main character isn't the main character, more of a plot device than anything.
- I will make people love Barry the Dog.
