Why I Love Henry VIII (And why I would NEVER marry him)
Oh Henry, you silly boy. Henry VIII was one of the greatest kings that England had ever seen. He completely followed his own desires, which ended up leading to the creation of the Anglican Church of England and leaving the Pope in the dust. Heres the scoop:
Henry married Katherine of Aragon, who was older than him. Henry was a bit of a hottie (and a bit of an egomaniac, but at this point, who cares). He was faithful to Katherine, until he realized that the older she got, the less she could give him an heir, a male heir. So once Katherine had officially disappointed him, a whole political conspiracy showed up with the Howards : Anne and Mary Boleyn. Mary was married to Sir William Carey, but since Henry's ego supersceded him, Mary wound up pregnant with Henry's child (Allegedly). Then he met Anne Boleyn, and after falling deep in love with her, a woman who would NOT sleep with him on demand, he went to the pope and demanded a divorce so he could marry Anne. Here's where the fun stuff comes in : The Pope was in Italy, the country of the Holy Roman Emporer, the nephew to Katherine of Aragon, the very woman whom Henry wanted a divorce. So Pope Clement decided not to grant Henry his divorce, so he wouldn't stir the waters. Well stir the waters he did ; He decided to create his own church, granting himself an annulment to Katherine and marrying Anne. After Anne could only give Henry a daughter, and not a son as he so needed, he had the woman declared a witch, guilty of treason and sent to death.
Poor Anne, all she did was listen to her uncle's ideas of social greatness, and she had to die because Henry couldn't give her a son (It wasn't her fault !)...
so basically, Henry was an egomaniac, who couldn't keep it in his pants, knocked up her sister when she was married to someone else, and stubborn.
and these woman wanted to marry Henry...why?
