Hello from Michigan!

To those I promised a con report, here goes! :D

Thurs: After a somewhat rocky start to the trip, I managed to find my way to MediaWest Con in Lansing, MI. I ended up taking a later flight than scheduled, but it all worked out for the best and I was able to meet my roomies at the airport instead of the hotel. After picking up a rental car, we headed to Bennigan's (broccoli bites!!! YUM!!!) for dinner (after a quick trip through the sleezy liquor store right across from the entrance to the airport *g*). After than it was onward to the hotel and check-in, and after a quick trip to the store to find what we needed for our door decoration, it was time for a nice little tour of the halls to check out all the dealers selling from their rooms. We picked up some pre-con orders and caught up with some old friends along the way. Then it was back to the room for the night, to work on our door decoration and sleep. (which I was more than ready for after being up since 4am. Blech!)

Friday: Bright and early, two of us made our way down to use the exercise equipment (y'all be sure to tell Doc that I have been a good girl and have used the stationary bike and doing my exercises for my knee every single day since I got here. We'll just keep the part about not doing any of it on Thurs between us, 'kay? *g*) After we all showered, it was time to head down for breakfast. We got there toward the end of the buffet, but other than the biscuits being a little hard it was very good. By the time we finished eating, it was almost time for registration to open so we headed there and picked up our stuff. The dealer's room was open, so we headed off to see all the stuff with the hot boyz spend money. Lots of money, lol. By the time I'd covered most of the room, my knee was begging for ice so I headed up to the room while the others tried to see who could empty their bank accounts the fastest. *g* We managed to get the door decoration up and sat back to listen to people laugh, which thankfully many people did. :D Picspam to follow shortly. Late lunch/dinner was at BD's Mongolian Barbeque, after which were totally stuffed to the gills.

Saturday: More shopping (yes, we did have some money left after Friday, lol--really!) after work outs and breakfast and many checks of the art show. (One of my roomies did some stained glass and hand-made some beaded items to enter. Six of her pieces are going to auction this evening--wooohooooo!) Her Torchwood square sold, but didn't go to auction. Her BSG Eye of Jupiter (which also looks awesomely good, btw) and several other non-fannish pieces had enough bids to take it to auction. She also made some glass beads and made bookmarks and bracelets (including Harry Potter!) and all of those sold as well. We went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse (Y.U.M.!!!!). There was a slight mix-up with the steaks, but the strawberry Margarita was AWESOME. Once again, we were totally STUFFED by the time we left, so after a brief stop at Target we headed back to the hotel. Two of us walked off the meal (my knee was not happy with the idea, so I passed on that one *pouts*) and two of us took a nice little nap. Other than that it was a fairly quiet day. Oh! On the way up from dinner, we met John and Rodney (action figures) in the elevator, the two having just returned from a nice little romp in the hotel pool. *giggles*

Sunday: Same routine as the other mornings. Workouts, then showers, then breakfast, then a trip to the art show room to check on bids. I didn't find anything that I wanted badly enough to fight for, so I didn't bid on anything. :( Wandered the halls and dealers room a bit more, then came up to grab a book and head down to the courtyard to soak up some rays. (Not too much though, as prescriptions say no prolonged or excessive exposure. :( ) THen came back to the room and started typing up this report. Then we went to dinner at a local place across from the university (Michigan State) called Pizza House. I shall spare you all the poultry teaching/sheep teaching discussion that took place on the way there though. *g* I have a feeling we will be heading back there next year. *g* They had Chicago Stuffed pizza!!! Was VERY yummy. I was good and had salad so as to get some veggies in, so that canceled out all the calories from the pizza and cheesebread. *nods* Now we are chilling out and waiting for art auction to begin in about an hour. :D

So that's it for now. Picspam to follow at some point tonight or tomorrow. Probably. Maybe. *g*
