How Rude!

Earlier today, my daughters and I took the kidlets to lunch at McDonald's. The kidlets love going there because it's one of the few in the area that still has an indoor playground. Daughter#1 and I, along with kidlet#1 met daughter#2 and kidlet#2 at 1pm, hoping the worst of the lunch crowd would be gone.

Sadly, this was not the case and the place was still extremely crowded. (Mostly with a whole lot of other parents/grandparents with kids, as the weather was too cold for a trip to the park.) We got there before the other 2 and went inside to see what tables might be available. Kidlet was very upset about something, because as soon as we pulled up she started to cry. Not sobbing, but the tears were forming. She didn't want to tell us what, so we went inside and managed to get lucky, finding a table for 4 with another small 2-person table next to it that was empty right across from the registers. So Kidlet#1 and daughter#1 sat down at the small table and I took a seat at the bigger table. I was still trying to find out what was bothering the kiddo, so I was kind of turned sideways in my seat, but it was still plenty clear that I was sitting at the table.

By this time, daughter#2 and kidlet#2 had arrived and were headed into the restaurant to meet us. Before they got inside, some woman came over and took the 4-person table on the other side of me. Which was fine, we only needed the one I had and the small one. But then she waved over some bigger kids and directed them to sit down at my table--without even asking if I minded or if anyone else was sitting there! I looked up, startled and said, "Excuse me, but this table is taken. We have two more people with us."

She was passing out Happy Meal bags to the smaller kids she had with her and never even looked at me. She shrugged and said, "Well we have seven in our group." She said this in a very snotty and nasty tone, of course, and then she calmly sat down and started unwrapping her own burger.

My daughter and I looked at each other like, "You've got to be kidding me!" Then we both made it very plain that this was our table and if they didn't move, we'd be calling the manager over and complaining. She shrugged again and then took another bite of her sandwich, at which point my daughter stood up and said, "Fine, have it your way."

The rude woman then slammed her sandwich down on the tray and, not saying a word to us, told the three girls (looked to be about 10-14 in age) to get their stuff and sent them to a different table. She glared at us the entire time they were eating, and sure enough, when they finished, they all tromped off into the playland area. I turned to my daughters and said, "How much do you want to bet she lets those older girls play on the equipment also?"

The age limit posted is up to 12 yrs old. And the girls may well have been twelve, but if so, they were very big for their age. The way the bars and cages shook when the big ones all started climbing up (in a group, of course) was downright scary and it was obvious that they should never have been allowed to play in there. But given the appalling lack of manners/common courtesy of the woman they were with over the table issue, I can't say I was surprised. The kidlets finished their meals and went off to play, but we warned them to stay well clear of that group as much as possible. The two of them played for maybe 15-20 minutes and then wanted to leave. This is VERY out of character for them--usually we have to practically drag them out, kicking and screaming, lol. Later, they told my daughters that the rude people at the table next to us were cutting in front of people on the slide and in the tunnels and had even accidentally kicked several people in the face while trying to get ahead of them. Gee, wonder where they ever learned such poor manners as that? (/sarcasm)

But still, we had a nice lunch (rude people aside) and then my daughters took the kidlets to WalMart while I went to work out at Curves. I made a quick stop at KMart for some toiletries and such before my workout, and while I was there I found the most adorable stuffed dog and teddy bear. So of course I grabbed those for the kidlets and went to check out. Where of course I encountered even more rude people (though maybe selfish would be a better description here) There were two lanes open (Yes, on President's Day, there were only two lanes open in the whole damn store. Grr!) and both had long lines. One was express and the other not. I had quite a few things, as I picked up some bottled water, several cans of soup, some socks, and the toiletries, so I got in the non-express lane. The line was slow, but moved fairly steadily. I got up to where there were three people ahead of me and the customer first in line had like four things. Well, that was fine, but then right as the second item was being scanned, she starts jumping up and down (literally) and screeched, "Oh! I forgot to get something--can I go run get it real quick?" *headdesk*

Well, the checker, of course, said sure, go ahead. *glares at them both* So we waited. And we waited. And we waited some more. The damn line kept getting longer and longer, but they made no effort to open another or void the current order. A lot of people were beginning to get really irritated and grumble, when at last, the selfish idiot customer showed back up--with an entire armful of stuff (not just the one thing she forgot). People were still grumbling the entire time while she finished checking out. No apologies were offered either. *rolls eyes* Anyway, after spending over 25 minutes in line, I finally got to pay for my stuff and head off to Curves.

I only made it to Curves twice last week, after being off for a whole month with cold/flu/sinus crap. And with the new computerized workout-thing, let me tell you it was a brutal session, lol. My legs felt like jelly by the time I finished (so did my arms and shoulders, lol), but I managed to get all greens on my post-workout report (which means I hit or exceeded all my targets for reps/speed/etc. for each muscle group)--go me! LOL! This was my first time doing both strength machines and cardio on the computerized plan, plus it was also my first time to work out at the intermediate level. I have to admit, I was somewhat doubtful I'd make through the entire double circuit, but I just kept struggling through and I did manage the entire circuit twice. So I am still at intermediate level (Some people said they got dropped back down again right after they made it to intermediate, so I was very happy to not be one of them. *beams*) and still have much, much work to do. *le sigh* But I will get there eventually. *determined*

Tomorrow will be many, many loads of laundry (still catching up on towels and linens from when I was sick in addition to the normal stuff) and hopefully much resting up for Wednesday's workout. *giggles*

Happy Tuesday to one and all!
