Christmas Picspam-age and Pondering Resolutions
I know, I haven't posted here in ages. I totally got swallowed up by RL and family holiday stuff, but thankfully that's over for the year. Don't get me wrong--I loved it all and had a total blast! But as enjoyable as it was, it was also exhausting and I'm looking forward to a more normal schedule again. For a taste of Christmas festivities at my house, you can go here for a bit of picspam.
In amongst the holiday madness, I've been pondering possible resolutions for the New Year. I've already committed myself to a healthier lifestyle and have been watching what I eat and working out since last August, so the whole diet/fitness resolution-thing feels a bit like cheating and kind of a moot point.
So I think I'll be going a bit off the beaten path this year and making a few resolutions that aren't quite typical--which actually fits my taste far better than the usual lemming-type stuff and following the crowd. :D
In 2008, I resolve to:
--post here far more regularly again. I've been very remiss in posting anything other than fic here for a long time, so I want to get back to regular updates. Along with that, I resolve to also be better about commenting to my friends' posts.
--spend more time with the kidlets. They're growing up so fast and I've been too often lately staying behind when R & the others head off to the park and other fun places with them.
--get out and explore my city and nearby areas more. R & I used to do a lot more of this before the kids moved back home. We need to get back to taking more day trips on the weekends and see what's out there in our world. And I need to stop letting him take all the photos and start bringing my camera along even if he's bringing his!
--find a better balance between writing fan fiction and writing original fiction. I've got a lot of ideas for original fiction these days and I need to stop allowing myself to be distracted by fanfic if I want to have my original fiction published someday. NaNo was a good start, but now I need to follow through on that with editing and critiques. And I need to get started on researching for the new books I've begun plotting. Sadly, none of this is going to happen if I allow myself to become totally immersed in fan fiction. So, balance will be my goal for writing in the coming year.
Okay, I've bored you all enough for now. It's late and I should head back to bed to try to sleep for awhile again. I tried earlier, but as usual, I woke up an hour later and couldn't get back to sleep. :P
