Ikeda's on the way home from errands this afternoon and picked up various sundries. Was inspired to cook (for once) and felt a little creative. So I broke out the wok and, other than almost burning the house down, I think it turned out alright.
I already had some boneless skinless chicken breasts on hand, those got cut into stir-fry sized pieces and marinated in a mixture of sesame oil, seasoned rice vinegar, soy sauce, onion powder, ground ginger, and garlic salt with sesame seeds.
While that was soaking up all the yummy goodness, I got the rice started. I'd picked up some Japanese sweet rice at Ikeda's and I cooked that up in some chicken broth with a little butter and salt.
Cranking the heat all the way up, I got the wok nice and toasty (it's a beauty - carbon steel with all the essentials - that
asamiblack got me for my birthday a few years back) before adding a mere tablespoon of canola oil to it. Smoke, smoke everywhere! Tossed the chicken in to start bringing the heat down some, cracked the backdoor and cranked a fan up so that the smoke alarm didn't get all stressed out *g* Once the chicken was nicely browning, the broccoli got to join the act.
Sesame chicken and broccoli on sweet rice... delicious!
