Snow Festival in Sapporo!! Friday morning Renee and I got up at like 7am (ugh) so we could catch the train and make the 8:30am bus to Shinjuku. Our plane was to take off at 4pm. Why leave so early? So we could go eat MEXICAN for lunch, complete with margaritas. We then headed to the airport, plopped down to wait for about an hour, and eventually met up with the other people heading out with us.
Then they called us to board...and I saw what the hell I was boarding. A 747-400 covered in Pokemon pictures with a big ol' Pikachu right on the front. Oh my god...they have a POKEMON plane? Looks like this
So there I am sitting on this plane thinking how the devil ANA marketing got the company to agree to put Pokemon on the plane...probably a CEO who still plays the game and takes great joy out of kicking his kids' asses at it. Then along came the flight attendant with the free beverages (it's only a 2 hour flight)...wearing a Pokemon apron and serving beverages in Pokemon cups.
Dude, you've gotta be joking.
We got through the airport relatively quickly, then waiting for a group from Nagoya to come with us. We almost lost Grace in the scramble for the train, but luckily she just got in any ol' car and we met up at the station we needed. A short walk later and we were at our lap of luxury, the Sheridan in Sapporo. Not a bad hotel, although Renee claimed she'd been to nicer ones. There's a spa in the basement I might try along with a massage place (which I probably won't try considering it's like $50). All in all it shouldn't be bad at all. Sunday we have to move to another hotel for the last night (not sure why, who knows) and Monday we'll head home.
Will update with more when I get out and about. Right now I'm fighting a nasty cold. Maybe a hot bowl of steaming ramen will help.
