Airmen like to say "Flexibility is the key to airpower."
My PCS plans have changed. I am no longer moving to Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, LA. I am now moving MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL. Yes, it's definitely a more coveted location for most people, and I am excited about living in central Florida very near the beach. However I won't be visiting my family as much as I had planned on when I expected to be living only 5 hours away. (And, really, I have never been a beach person.) I just found out about MacDill this week so I am still getting used to the idea and realizing that I know very little useful info about that part of Florida. I am excited about the mild winter I expect there. I look forward to being able to run and bike outside much of the winter. Once I am officially notified I will contact a realtor there and start researching the housing market.
On that topic, my home here has been on the market two weeks and so far I've not had much interest. My realtor hosted an open house today and two couples showed up to look - the first people to come to my house since it's been on the market. And I have been working hard to keep the house “show ready” for two weeks now! Hopefully something will come from today's visitors or from next week's open house. San Antonio is a buyer's market now, and I am in the seller's position. Well, hopefully the tables will turn when I am a buyer in Tampa. My loss here will hopefully be a bigger gain there.
