Logically, I took a million and a half pictures. Really, that many.
Remember, it wasn't really our house yet. Things were *almost* settled, but we still hadn't heard about whether or not the money would be there when we arrived at closing. Our real estate agent (being Jon's sister's husband's dad, yeah) had us pretty well convinced that we'd still be able to close, since we'd done everything we'd needed to do. Jon and I were only a little bit nervous about everything still, and we had to rush though our final walkthrough to make it to closing on time.
This is our doorstep and off to the right is our covered porch. There'll be a grill and maybe a skychair over there. And our entryway, ta da!
Our fireplace, and this fancy little almost-mantle over it. And the kitchen.
This is what I was thinking the whole time we were walking through the place:
We get ALL the appliances with the place. Dishwasher, fridge, oven, microwave, washer, dryer, THE WORKS. Which means that we don't have to stress out about buying all this shit on our own.
It's an end unit, so we get 33% more windows than most places. And really awesome blinds and stuff. They're fabric and lacy and very cool. I am exceedingly pleased.
The view out the big windows and the front of the house. The grass over there is super thick and soft, and so far my only disappointment is that there aren't any swings in the park. Boo hoo.
Here's me in the half bathroom downstairs. It's extremely long and narrow, and it's also very disconcerting to be able to stare at yourself while you're on the pot. Fortunately, I don't expect to spend a lot of time in this room.
Right up the stairs is the master bedroom suite. I'm allowed to say suite because it's enormous.
That's a corner fireplace, and what is almost another small room. We'll prolly use that space for a computer desk and such. You can also see one of the nook spaces on the very right with very ugly fake plants just hanging out, taking up space.
A closeup of the half circle window that's above the second enormous window in the master bedroom. There's another just like it in the second bedroom as well.
The built-in shelves and one side of the two-sided fireplace.
Care to step into the master bathroom?
Double sinks, two windows, five jet tub, shower. The ceilings in both the bedroom and bathroom are vaulted to something ridiculous like fifteen or sixteen feet, and there's a skylight in the bathroom over the shower. The toilet is in its own cozy little room to the right.
The master bedroom closet is off to the left, and it's large enough to be considered another bedroom. Seriously, I think it might be bigger than one of the bedrooms in our current house. Lots and lots of space, and it will be *wonderful*
If, somehow, all of my stuff doesn't fit into that closet, there's another enormous one down the hall in the second bedroom.
The hallway to the second bedroom. Behind those double doors are our washer and dryer, both of which make me extremely happy. You can see another skylight, and two more of the little nooks that are recessed into the walls. I can't wait to figure out what kind of neat stuff to put up there, cause the fake plants aren't long for those spaces.
It's really hard to show the second bedroom, just because of the angles of it all. The picture isn't blurry, it's the blinds making things crazy. The room is like twelve by thirteen, and again with all the extra windows. It has its own bathroom, with a regular tub, and another enormous walk-in closet. We'll prolly make this the office/guest bedroom, cause it's big enough to hold two huge desks and a queen size bed. Hoo-rah!
So after our whirlwind walkthrough, Jon and I procured the largest check that either of us have held in our hands:
Need a closeup of that number over there on the right? I gotcha covered, cause I could hardly believe it myself.
Yeah. That's our downpayment and closing costs. We even had some of the closing costs paid by the seller. It's hard for me to believe that a couple of days ago, I actually had that much money. And it's gone now. But we have a house! It's OURS!
