I want to word this right. I don’t want it to seem as if I am attacking you as a person. That is not my intention. My hope is that you might come to understand why I have a problem here and why some others do as well.

Overall, I am deeply, deeply disturbed by the fact that you don’t see what is wrong with this sentence: “My thinking was if she had an good orgasm then it wasn't rape.” You honestly don’t see why that is a troublesome thing to say? This is why things like date-rape and its equivalent have been so hard to combat in society. This is a societal excuse and misconception that women have been attempting to overcome for generations. Orgasm is not a defense of rape. If anything, orgasming while the victim is being raped could be seen as even worse than if he/she hadn’t. Because not only did that person betray that victim, but so did that victim’s very own body. “She could have forgiven Guy for betraying her, but she would never forgive him for making her betray herself.” Sound familiar? And then of course, there is society saying, “Because you orgasmed, it wasn’t rape.” So the victim is betrayed by society too.

Orgasm is your body’s response to stimulation. Nothing more, nothing less. Just because you orgasmed during rape does not mean that, suddenly, it’s no longer rape. It’s been repeated so often that lots of people don’t think about the meaning anymore, but it still holds true: No means no.

What is important is that that choice was taken away from her. That is rape. Power over her body and how it was used was taken away from her. That is rape.

Do you have the right to write a rape-fic? Yes. Do you have the right to enjoy a rape-fic? Yes. That is your personal choice. However, understand that that is what this is and, please, appropriately label it as such. That way, others can make their own personal choices in an informed manner about whether or not they want to read a rape-fic.
