Sometimes we need to care for their wellbeing. Are they really okay?
While we are all aware about this on-going pandemic, everyone's eyes are on celebrities. We're all staying home so of course we have more time to check on them such as what they're doing, what kind of advocacy do they have at the moment... AND OF COURSE, if they're also following rules just like most of us.
I'm gonna focus on the latter.
Just recently two fandoms of mine had an almost similar case of "going out while there's a common understanding amongst people that social distancing should be practiced and loitering should be avoided as much as possible". Now the thing is there were so many opinions about this. Some would say it's not okay while some would argue that we should be more understanding about the circumstances they're in, etc. This can't be helped, to each his own.
This is not just about the law of a certain country but we need to consider the common practice during this crisis. If we call out common people for breaking the rule, we should do the same for the celebrities. (e.g. Malls were crowded in our country despite the frequent reminder to go out only if its urgent and necessary, this mean people did not observe the social distancing. How is this different with the issue of celebrities going to clubs?) In my point of view, this isn't something excusable.
I think this is okay. We call out their "bad behavior". That's like a mom to their child, a teacher to their student, or a friend to their best friend. Do we hate them for what they did? NO. Do we stop supporting? NO (depends on the action they did. If they killed or raped a person, that's something we should never support! - - but that's a different issue so...yeah)
They should be more responsible of their action. (What if they unknowingly spreadt the virus? What if they caught the virus?)
However, calling them out doesn't mean we hate them.
Rather, we want the best for them. Just imagine the criticisms from non-fans. They will not understand deeply coz they're not in the zone. More criticisms would not be good for their image and their inner peace.
We call them out so they would stop from repeating same mistake. There's an aim to send a message that "now you're wrong but stand up and be a better person. We will help you along the way".
We still pray for their wellbeing. We still hope they get the help they need. Celebrities, especially IDOLS, are hard to reach so we often don't get to send our message directly but if we all have common thoughts and message, it will surely reach them.
We should use social media properly. We could talk about them wihout having to condemn them. Once we push them away too hard then they might not want to return. It's time we put more concern on their emotions and mental health. Celebs are human too.
How about you? What are your thoughts on these issues?
