HAPPY BIRTHDAY + NEW FIC

Jun 23, 2010 17:09

He is not stupid or anything of that level, but his mom has been mentioning a lot about getting him a private tutor a month before the entrance exam for Meiji University starts. He’s thinking she might be worried that he’s only hanging out with his high school friends all the time, spending nights on club, touching different girls every night instead of touching his academic books. Hikaru did his best to show her the most annoyed expression to somehow convey that he dislikes the idea.

“It’s for your future.”, she says again, like it’s a habit.

Hikaru sighed.

“I promise I will pass the exam in just one go, just don’t get me a tutor. It’ insulting.”

“I want to believe you, but I already contacted with the agency, and they agreed with the contract.”, she pats Hikaru’s shoulder as she makes her way to the door to go to the market, “Your session starts tomorrow at 5pm until 9pm. You won’t fail me, would you?”

5pm tomorrow is supposed to be a night out with my friends.

“Hikaru?”

“Ok. Ok… I’ll stay here.”

“That’s good.”

He watched as her back disappears from the door. He can’t hate his mom. He’d rather have her hating him. A mischievous smile plays on the corner of his mouth.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hikaru woke up the next day earlier than his mom would be. He decided he’ll go out and stay on a place where he can enjoy even just by himself, drop to his friend’s house at 5pm until midnight, and then tell his mom he totally forgot about the time. It’s an evil plan, he knows it, but he’s too desperate not to hurt his ego. His beloved ego. He can already imagine how his tutor looks like, a nerdy one wearing thick eyeglasses with unwanted pimples on the face, plus braces shining on the teeth, and a voice that would probably make him hit him with a book. He shivers at the thought. He’ll die spending a month with that kind of person.

He succeeds on getting out of the house without waking up anyone on their household. Carefully pulling out his bicycle (he could use the car but he’s afraid the noise might create a commotion) from the garage.

He stops over in a fastfood restaurant  to buy breakfast since he was in a hurry a while ago. There were quite a number of university student inside, they must’ve skipped breakfast too like him, just in a different reason as he is. He avoided them, choosing the farthest seat from the counter  and enjoyed his privacy.

He was about to take a big bite on his burger sandwich when he felt like someone’s staring at him. He hesitated for a while, but in the end, he slowly turned his head to the side and saw a couple sitting on the table across him. He can guess that they’re college students based on the books lying open on top of their table. He can only see that pretty girl’s face coz the boyfriend has his back on him. They seem to be talking about something which he doesn’t know and doesn’t want to know, but the girl was smiling at him. He’s sure her eyes were pinned on him though he’s clueless of the reason. When the boyfriend’s head moved to kiss the girl, Hikaru immediately returned his gaze to his burger and ate it. He’s probably hallucinating. In his mind, the girl’s face left a memory. He can’t believe that someone who has an angelic face like that is capable of making such seductive look.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The day is unexpectedly slow to his liking. He argued with himself whether to go back home and just scare the tutor away so he can live peacefully already or let the tutor give up on him. But the good son inside him tells him otherwise.  He took a glance on his wristwatch, it’s already 8pm. If he remembered it right, the tutorial session lasts until 9pm.

Before he knew it, his hand is gripping the doorknob of their backdoor. He opened it slowly and silently and pokes his head inside to see if his mom is there to give him a really big smack on the head. He was relieved when he found the hallway empty. He tiptoed towards the staircase and heaved out a sigh once he reached his room. He happily celebrated the fact that no one’s here, not the tutor, not his mom.

His wide grin turned into a frown the moment he stepped inside his room. He should be alone now, but he’s wrong. Someone’s sitting on the centertable of his bedroom, busy scribbling notes on a very thick book he assumed must be a reviewer.

Fuck. I’m doomed.

He’s ready to step back while he’s not seeing him yet. He’ll leave this house right now and return tomorrow. Unfortunately, he tripped on his own feet and his back made contact with the wooden floor. He’s in a very humiliating situation now and he cursed under his breath, ignoring the hand that was offering him a help.

“It’s late. I thought you wouldn’t come.”, it was a soft-girly voice that had spoken, very contrary to the idea of a nerdy-type one.

Hikaru’s eyes stared at those well-shaped fingers, then to that familiar face looking down at him. Considering this embarrassing thing that happened to him, he could’ve given a sarcastic remark, but he just blinked his eyes for about four times, obviously surprised.

“You?!”, their voices blended in the air, asking same question to each other.

He can’t be mistaken. It was the girl he encountered in the fastfood a while ago. But not actually a girl based on what he’s seeing now.

“I’m Inoo Kei, I’ll be your private tutor from today until the end of this month.”, the hand he was offering is now taking his own for a hand shake.

Hikaru was stunned.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hikaru finds himself waiting for his tutor the next day. Dropping the reason that it’s for the sake of studying, he wanted to see him. Last night was really an off moment for him, that guy called Inoo Kei plainly had just forgiven him about being “late” for the class and handed to him the notes that he had to review all written in the reviewer. He didn’t get the chance to introduce himself nor say anything else aside for an “Okay” when Kei said goodbye.

His mission to get rid of the tutor is now erased among his evil plans. And, NO… he’s not interested on guys, even though he’s disappointed that the girl he had a crush on is in reality  a guy. He just want to see his face again. Something about him is making Hikaru curious.

His train of thought was distracted by the sound of light footsteps coming to his room. As expected, it was the pretty tutor. Hikaru stood up and did his best not to give a smile. He won’t give him the satisfaction of believing that he is excited for this class.

Why does he look so feminine? he bit his lower lip to hold back the comment.

“You’re here Hikaru.”, Hikaru scrunches a bit hearing his first name being called by a newly met person, “I’m happy.”

Yeah right. “My mom forced me,” of course it’s a lie.

They sat on the floor to prepare for their first session. Kei puts out some books from his bag and laid them all on the center table one by one, various books that scared Hikaru on how thick they are.

“Wait. Am I going to review all of those?”

Kei snickered, Hikaru undeniably felt a tingling feeling.

“These are my books. I’m hoping I can study while you’re answering the reviewers.”

“You’re a college student, right? You must be thinking this is such a pain to do. I’m not brainless for your information.”

He received yet another sweet smile, one that kills him in frustration.

“Whether you’re stupid or not, I don’t care at all. I’m here to help you on studying. So, can we start now?”

Hikaru froze in his seat. He wasn’t able to speak after that.

(TO BE CONTINUED)

isn't this worth pimping? :3
