“You're cheating on me Sammy,” the Devil huffed, his tone full of mock hurt. “Do you enjoy driving this stake of emotional torture through my heart?”
Sam turned in the Garden Supply aisle and glared at him, “You don't have a heart.” And then, “What are you doing?”
The Devil stood in the middle of the aisle, a plastic lawn stake sticking out of his chest.
“But if I had, you'd be driving this yellow stake through it with your gallivanting around.”
Sam was confused; it didn't take long when the Devil was around. “What are you talking about?”
“Wow kiddo,” he threw the stake aside, “Is all that sex you're not having going to your head?”
“Ugh, seriously-”
“I'm talking about you shirking your duties to spend time with Andi. Those souls aren't going to catch themselves.”
Oh. That. “What's the big deal? The soul was a farmer, not exactly the murdering type. I'll get him.”
The Devil's face got serious, “Not that I don't appreciate this new 'devil-may-care' attitude you've developed -you should use it more often, you're kind of a tight ass,”
“Hey!”
“But I don't appreciate you employing it when you should be catching souls, because Sammy, I do care. That's my time, and you're wasting it.”
Sam frowned, this whole 'Satan owns my soul' thing was getting old. Fast. Not that there was anything he could do about it.
He sighed, no getting out of it, “Fine, I'll go out after work.”
The Devil broke out into a grin. “That's why I like you Sammy, guilted into anything.”
“Not anything, just...this,” Sam agreed, reluctantly.
He clapped Sam on the shoulder, “I knew you could never be unfaithful.”
“That's...disturbing.”
