CO poisoning...
SO...Thursday morning, our 5th wedding anniversary, I was on my way to work. It was 6:30am, and Tom calls. He says that the CO alarm is going off. I tell him to turn off the alarm and call Consumers Energy. I went to work, feeling strange about leaving them at home, while I have the car seat in my car at work. I had a terrible headache all morning. At my break, I called again. Tom said that they were still not there. Now, I was getting worried. What if I stayed at work, got home to them passed out, or worse? I HAD to leave...I left about 11am. Consumers Energy did not get there until 6 hours later...about 1pm! I was sleepy on the couch, and I had just put Tommy down for a nap. She came in, and wondered if we were painting. The reading on the detector was 200ppm. It was really high! She told us to get out and go to the hospital, just to make sure we were alright. Tom stayed behind to get it all figured out with them. Tommy and I went to my parent's house about 2:30p. My dad took us to the St. Joseph's Urgent care on 23 & I-94. (By the way, I had called prior to see if they could help us.) After waiting there for 1 and a half hours, they told us they couldn't treat us! HELLO! We were pissed! Anyway...Tom had to get a chimney guy to come out and clean it because it was plugged, and we needed a new furnace because the heat exchanger was broken. It was the main source of CO in the house. So, around 5:30, Tom got to leave, but they could fix it until Friday. So, we had to stay at Tom's parent's house, since they had a crib. When Tom got to my mom's, we all headed for St. Joseph's on 19 mile. We got oxygen and they took our blood to test it for CO....arterial blood gases..I just learned about this in Med. Terminology class. Anyways, about 10:30, we were finally sent home...at least to Tom's parent's house. We got there and Tom finally got a shower. He went to get McDs about 11:00. While eating, I told him Happy Anniversary! What a day!
Friday, I had to work 5:30-2p at Beaumont. I think I got about 3 hours of sleep! Ick. After work I went to pick up Tommy, but we still couldn't come home yet. The furnace guys were there from 8:30-5:45p. It was so nice to come home. Vito stayed here with the windows open....we was fine. I was worried about him, but they shut everything off.
SO...here we are with a new furnace and a new chimney liner...$2900 later! We got to go out last night to Louis' Chop House. We wanted to see a movie, but there isn't anything we want to see playing. We stopped at Meijer before picking Tommy up at my sister's house. We got home about 10:00. We still haven't exchanged gifts. I got Tom money to get his tattoo he has ALWAYS wanted. I figure that he doesn't ever get to do anything, so I'll let him do it. I've fought him for years about it, but who cares! Really....I hope he likes it. I tried to get a hold of his sister to tell me where she went so I could make the appt, but time ran short! Then...I was supposed to go to Laura's shower today, but I was scheduled to work! The last day of the schedule was Saturday, the 19th. USUALLY, if you work Sat, your work Sun. So, I figured that since I wasn't scheduled for Sat. and played it safe by just saying that I had Sunday off. No such luck. I can't call in either because I just left on Thursday. If I call off 3 times in 6 months, they can fire me. I am contingent, not a parttime or fulltime employee, so they can do that. But Laura understood, so that's all that matters. Anyways, I got to get into work..see you all later! :P
