PERSONALIZATION AND EMBELLISHMENT NOTES:
This pattern can yield different looking tops with some fairly easy modifications, such as working the Yoke in a complimentary color, or striping the yoke or even the entire garment.

ABBREVIATIONS:
• dec = decrease
• K = knit
• K2tog = knit two together
• P = purl
• psso = pass slipped stitch over
• RS = right side
• st/s = stitch/es
• St st = stockinet stitch
• WS = wrong side
• YO = yarn over

STITCHES USED:
Knit Two Together -- making a regular knit stitch, but you work through two stitches instead of just one.
Garter Stitch -- knit all stitches on both the RS and the WS rows.
Pass Slipped Stitch Over -- Slip stitch from left-hand to right-hand needle. Pull next stitch through the one passed to the right-hand needle. Drop the passed stitch, keeping the second loop on the right hand needle.
Stockinet Stitch -- work the RS rows in knit sts and the WS rows in purl sts. These two rows are repeated to make the pattern. The "front" side of the fabric will look like a series of Vs, while the "back" looks like a bunch of bumpy ridges.
Yarn Over -- wrap the yarn around the right-hand needle from back to front counterclockwise before knitting the next stitch. Then just work the next stitch as normal. When you get to the yarn over on the next row, treat it as a regular stitch.

BODY PIECE:
Worked in the round on 29" size 3.75 mm, 5(US), 9(UK) circular needles.
Cast on 184-200-216-232-248-264-264-284-304 sts on circular needle size US 5.
Inset any marker to mark the end of the round. Close the round (be careful not to twist.)
Work 8 rounds garter st - see above - and then continue in St st until piece measures 6¼''-6¾''-7''-7½''-8''-8¼''-8¼''-8½"- 8¾".
Now you may remove the round marker and insert 6 markers in piece as follows:
 Work 28-31-33-36-39-41-41-44-47 sts - insert marker-color A,

When piece measures 22½''-22¾''-23¼''-23 5/8''-24''-24"-24 3/8''-24 3/8'' -25 3/8'' work 8 rounds with garter st on 5-5-6-6-7-7-7-8-8 sts on each side of marker at the side with remaining sts in St st as before.
